Walking is the most common and accessible form of physical activity. Urban poling, or nordic walking, provides full body exercise with research backed health benefits for a variety of groups, including Parkinson’s and older adults. Why walk when you can nordic walk?

Urban Poling Benefits:

  • Off loading: Decreases stress placed on painful leg joints

Urban Poling Activator® Poles were especially designed for individuals with balance concerns and/or looking for support to decrease pain/stress on back and legs. Training will typically utilize these poles although the option to use Urban fitness poles for those looking for a more intense walking program is also available.

Individual and Group Options Available:

  • Newtown Township: 6 Week Nordic Walking & Exercise Series

    • Tuesdays from 1-2 pm at Roberts Ridge Park, 4/9/24-5/14/24

  • Individual training: includes Urban fitness or Activator® pole fitting, training, and exercise

    • Training can be completed in person or virtually

  • Group Poling class: 60 min walking/exercise classes

    • Use Activator® poles for nordic walking and standing exercises for full body exercise, mobility, and cardiovascular health benefits

    • Geared toward 60+, all fitness levels welcome

    • Classes are held in small group format (4-8 participants)

    • Available for community partnerships or private small group events, please email to inquire further

Pricing:

  • Individual training: $150, price of poles not included but available for purchase at a discounted rate (for in person trainings only)

  • Group Poling class: $25/pp per class

    *Urban poles will be provided for all classes and available for purchase (but not required to participate)
